About
Nirvana Restaurant and Bar
Nirvana Restaurant was established in 1997.
We’ve been here in the Market / Castro corridor for over a decade now, originally inspired by Philip and Nancy Chu who were one of the leading pioneers that brought Burmese cuisine to the United States back in the early 1980s, with famed restaurant Nan Yang over in the East Bay.
Over the years we’ve evolved to become one of the most recognized purveyors of Southeast Asian fusion cuisine. We have cuisine with strong influences from India, certainly Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, and even Korea!
We buy all of our own vegetables fresh daily from local Southeast Asian markets. We mix our own spices, roast our garlic, and prepare our own sauces from scratch. We cook with 100% soybean oil, and never use MSG.
Thank you for visiting!
